Overview

This is a very cool book to have. This is a Material collection. What exactly does that mean? Well, before your favorite anime gets animated, thousands of individual cels have to be drawn, painted, and shot. Obviously, this is more work than one animator could ever do. So what you have is a team of animators all doing different things at the same time. The problem is that they have to make sure that all their work looks the same.

So, what happens is the chief designers drawn up a whole bunch of black and white sketches on how certain things look. Characters. Props. Machines. Locations. EVERYTHING!

This book is a collection of all those sketches. Everything from an aerial view of the entire Shinonome campus to the interior of the royal toilet. Every character, every locale, every accessory and costume that was featured in the first seven-part OVA. This book is awesome if you love seeing stuff before it went to the screen or if you're doing something for El-Hazard and need design type information, particularly for areas or specifics on characters.
