Introduction/Food of El-Hazard
From EHOL
I reality,
food in El-Hazard isn't that much different from Earth. People eat vegetables, meats,
and grains much like many Earth cultures do. What type of food is eaten seems dependant
on where someone is located. Seafood seems to be very prominent in areas along the
Holy River, while those more inland have menus consisting of grown foods and wild
game.
Though a traveler to El-Hazard may not be able to recognize food right away. A lot
of plants and animals look so different that not knowing what is edible and what
isn't may be hazardous. Some of the most unusual plants may offer the nicest surprises.
Such as a plant in which its stem is used as a straw to drink the juice from within.
The major difference in the food of El-Hazard and Earth seems to come down to preparation
and flavor. El-Hazardian cuisine is not known for its use of spices, seasonings,
or sauces. This tends to give it a much lighter and less intrusive flavor. However,
someone who is used to Earth cuisine may find it to actually be bland.
However, with the introduction of Japanese and Western cooking styles to El-Hazard
through the entrepreneurial Nanami Jinnai and her Shinonome Diner, the popularity
of her unique and different dishes may force other chefs and restaurants to update
their own cooking techniques in order to compete with Nanami's popular meals.
