This Character only appears in the El-Hazard Manga Timeline.

Ab-Zahal is one of two demon gods found and reactivated to do the bidding the notorious Phantom Tribe.

Physically, Ab-Zahal appears to be the only male demon god in existence (there is, however, no proof to support this hypothesis and there may be, in fact, several male demon gods.) He is a tall being with dark skin and dresses much like one would imagine a djinn (a genie) would with a turban, vest, and loose pants. On his forehead he has a cyclopic eye, as he seems to be blind (why would a demon god be build this way is unclear, but the eye may give him extrasensory perception, etc.) He also differs in that his power circuit where his zenmai (key staff) is inserted is on the back of his neck rather than the small of his back like the female demon gods.

He is a powerful fighter and him, along with Jinnistacia, fought Ifurita as a team and defeated her relatively easily. This could very easily have given the pair an inflated ego which is evident in the rematch where he fought Ifurita one-on-one.

During that rematch, Ab-Zahal grew overconfident and allowed himself to become distracted by Makoto’s attack using the ancient El-Hazardian missile defense system. He laughed as he proclaimed no attack could ever touch him.

At that moment, he realized, too late, that Ifurita had snuck behind him and had inserted her staff into his neck, allowing her to blow his head clean off his shoulders a few seconds later.
